Proposed changes to Heatons primary schools catchments
Stockport Council asking for local opinion on Heatons school changes
A few clients have mentioned this, but some people are not aware that there is a consultation period at the moment surrounding the proposed changes to the catchment areas of Norris Bank and Tithe Barn primary schools in order to increase the catchment area of St Thomas’ CE Primary School which will be expanded. The consultation also includes proposed changes to admissions criteria and different Stockport schools holiday dates.
There is extensive information on the Stockport Council website which outlines the proposed changes and how the system will work for those with children with a sibling already at either Tithe Barn or Norris Bank.
There is a list of 34 roads within SK4 that would be affected by the change of catchment areas, listed here along with maps which show the current catchment areas and how they could look in the future.
You can complete a form online, or the consultation form is also available to download from the same page and can be returned to the Council via email or post.
The deadline for all consultation responses is midnight on Sunday 8th February.
The Philip James Wilson office is located in the heart of Heaton Moor and many of the team live in the Heatons, so are actively involved with the local community as well has being parents to children in local schools. We feel this is an important issue for anyone within the Heatons who may be considering their child’s education now or in the future.
